FILL THE DOME 2008!

This year FMDINING.com is sponsoring Fill The Dome! FMDINING.com is a just month away from its 1st birthday and since we are all about food we decided what better way to commemorate this event by helping with a local food drive! Below is an excerpt from the Fill The Dome website.

Last year, the youth of Fargo-Moorhead made history by creating the largest youth led food drive in Fargo’s history. Aiming to bring together youth of all ages for a common good, students from the elementary to the high school level all over the Fargo-Moorhead area joined together to fill the floor of the Fargodome for local food pantries.

Last year’s Fill The Dome raised 80,498 pounds of food for local food pantries. Food Pantries in Fargo-Moorhead, as well as the surrounding area are running low. Some in rural North Dakota are having to close due to the lack of food.

This year, Fill The Dome 2008 is aiming to raise 50 tons of food and $50,000 of funds. All food raised will stay in the Fargo-Moorhead area. 30% of funds raised will stay in Fargo, with the other 70% of funds going to rural North Dakota- where people need this food the most.

Details are still in the works for this year’s Fill The Dome. We hope to Fill the Dome in late November, but an official date has not yet been set. Stay tuned in the coming weeks for updated information.

Fear not as Maxwells does cater to the youngsters with a simple child-friendly menu which even includes some fun desserts--who ever said mom and dad get to have all the fun!

For your entrée the Iowa Lamb Rack comes as our recommendation--pan seared Iowa lamb rack with parsnip-celery root mash, pickled red onion and port-lavender macerated summer berries with vanilla demi. A great lighter meal selection is their Summer Berry & Chicken Salad--spring greens tossed in strawberry-poppy seed vinaigrette with grilled chicken breast, fresh summer berries, apple, candied walnuts and organic aged goat cheese.

A sizable glass wine cellar spans the divide between the restaurant and bar and is truly the spirit behind the atmosphere of WF Maxwells. This cellar houses over 3,000 bottles of wine, making Maxwells the largest private cellar in the area

Journey to Thailand

You don’t have to travel far to find great Thai food. In fact, you won’t even have to leave the city! Leela Thai Cuisine serves amazing food in a fabulous atmosphere while providing only the most personal service.

Start off your meal with their Angel Wings. For the perfect addition, pair your meal with a glass of wine or one of their specialty beers.

A wonderful entrée option is their Pad Thai--a combination of pad-fried rice noodles, your choice of meat in tamarind sauce accompanied by bean sprouts and garnished with peanuts. We also highly recommend the Siam Pineapple Fried Rice or the Red Curry--a wonderful blend of eggplant, young bamboo shoots, peas, bell peppers, basil leaves and your choice of meat. If spice is something that makes you a little nervous, not to worry as all dishes are prepared to your level of intensity.

For a fabulous finish to your meal try any one of their desserts. We recommend the Banana Paradise.

Fabulous Food, Wonderful Wine

If you haven't stopped by Vintner’s Cellar at 12 Broadway in downtown Fargo recently, you might not know Café Mosaic has a new location there. Be sure to make it your next stop for lunch or for a fun night out!

Café Mosaic’s lunches include soups and sandwiches and salads, as well as pastas, fruits and desserts--and they are spectacular! The Tuscan Style Panini comes highly, highly recommended. And if you haven't heard the buzz around town lately, they were recently named the winner of the areas’ best potato salad. (It's not on their menu, so be sure to ask if they have any that day.)

Café Mosaic is a perfect place for a quick and delicious lunch, and you can even order your food to go! If you like, opt to dine outside and take in the hustle and bustle of downtown Fargo.

Need to unwind after a long day? Vintner's Cellar Custom Winery makes some of the best wine you’ll find anywhere. That’s right, their own vintner makes all their wine on the premises. Take a peak in the back and view the wines being made. There is also a wide retail selection of wine accessories and supplies.

With so many wine choices one might not know which one to pick. Luckily,
Vintner's does offer wine tasting. For only $5 you can sample five wines of your choice from their list of quality wines. It's not on the list, but you absolutely must try their Orange Chocolate Port. It's amazing! You won't find anything like it anywhere else. And if you are feeling a little bit on the hungry side, Café Mosaic offers bread and cheese platters in the evenings, as well as other special dishes—the perfect complement to Vintner’s Cellar’s wines!

For those who have yet to cultivate a taste for fine wines, Vintner's Cellar plans begin selling beer and ale in the very near future.

Looking for a space to host your next group event or have a larger party? Vintner's Cellar & Café Mosaic is the perfect place! The banquet room reservations have been filling up quickly, so be sure to call them in advance to guarantee a spot!

Teaberry

Boba? Bubbles? Pearls? Maybe you have been hearing these words floating around town in the past month. Boba Tea has finally made its way to the FM area. Teaberry has been open for just under a month and has quickly become the talk of the town!

Boba Tea or Bubble Tea is a fun, exciting and especially refreshing beverage. This beverage doesn’t look like a traditional tea but rather more like a slushee or a smoothie. Boba tea is comprise of crushed iced, sugar, non dairy creamer, your choice of flavor and don’t forget the most important ingredient—the bubbles or the pearls. Pearls are large slippery tapioca beads with a sweet center that are at the very bottom of your beverage.. Because the pearls are so large your beverage is served with an extra large plastic straw! If pearls don’t sound like something that would please your palette then try their jellies—small fruit flavored Jello like cubes. And if pearls and jellies aren’t your thing, not to worry as they are both optional additions to your drink.

With a selection over 25 different flavors, everyone is sure to find something to please. And if you can’t decide on just one flavor opt to mix a few flavors together. If you aren’t up for a Boba tea, Teaberry offers several other specialty coffee and tea options. We recommend the Aloe Vera. Teaberry also offers French press Vietnamese coffee and a wonderful array of fresh sandwiches.

While the ambiance of the teahouse is of the calming nature, Teaberry has quickly become a popular late night hot spot for the younger crowds. Sporting several plush couches, a brand new 52” flat panel tv and free Wi-Fi, Teaberry is comfortable place to sit back and relax and perfect place to visit with friends. If you’re on the run all of their drinks can be ordered to go.

In the coming months Teaberry has plans of hosting video game tournaments and open-mike nights.

For a complete list of Teaberry’s Boba tea flavors, specialty drinks and sandwiches visit their profile on FMDINING.com.

Arabbiata

Arabbiata
1000 45th St
Fargo ND 58103

Hours:
Mon-Thurs: 5:00pm-9:00pm;
Fri-Sat: 5:00pm-10:00pm

Lookout Fargo-Moorhead!

If you haven’t heard the buzz around town about the posh new restaurant Arabbiata then read on!

Fargo has been waiting eons for a restaurant of this degree and Arabbiata has not only satisfied that craving but mastered it! Arabbita is Italian for angry. When applied to food it means hot or spicy. If you go, be sure to try their signature dish--the Smoked Salmon Wrapped Scallops.

Fargo's newest dining hot spot boasts the epitome of culinary inspiration and perfection while allowing their guests to dine in a stylish but comfortable atmosphere. Arabbiata may sound upscale--and it is, but don’t let that stop you from going. As long as you aren’t wearing ripped jeans or a punk tee-shirt anyone is welcome. Even the music is laid back and very chill--some of their music selection includes Jack Johnson and Sarah Bareilles.

Head Chef Gary Hancock is a well rounded and highly versatile cook. Skilled in more than a dozen cuisines Chef Hancock’s cooking style has been dubbed “Millennium Cuisine.” One of the newest trends of big city restaurants and fine dining establishments is catering to each individual guest’s wants and needs. If he has all the necessary ingredients, allow Chef Hancock an hour and he will create whatever you desire--Iron Chef style! There are country clubs that wouldn’t even bat an eyelash at requests like this. Vegetarians are also accommodated upon their request. Another big city trend is tasting menus. Starting in September he will be offering set multiple course meals with a prefixed price.

If you are feeling adventurous we highly recommend the shark. It’s not one of their menu items but it is featured regularly and we guarantee that you will agree that it is worth every penny. If not the shark, we also recommend the Dilled Encrusted Salmon--the best dilled salmon you will find in this part of the country. And to give you something new to chew on, Arabbiata’s menu also changes seasonally.

If you really want to dine in style and comfort and have a party of at least six, opt for their private dinner table complete with leather couches. As business continues to increase Chef Hancock plans to relocate the vip table to the center of the restaurant on a raised platform. Now that’s pretty hot!

Hands down, we give Arabbiata five stars.
